There are advantages of either having fruit as a whole or having real fruit juice. Let's see which one is better.

Which is better - having whole fruit or drinking fruit juice?

Fruit eaten as whole provides sufficient fibre content. Fruit skin of certain fruits and fruit pulp are beneficial as they provide additional nutrients. They can also help control hunger.

To put in a single statement, in general, fruit juice is not as healthy as whole fruit. Juicing reduces the fibre content. Fruit pulp can be missing in fruit juice. Fruit juice containing sweeteners adds to the calories without much nutrition leading to risks of obesity and related health problems like Type-2 diabetes.

Having said that, fruit juices are not unhealthy. Intake of fruit juices is situational. Fruit juice helps in making up of the fluid content for the body. Real fruit juice having pulp and no sugar is recommended for children and for people with disease or with low digestion power. Depending on the type of fruit, drinking pure and fresh real fruit juice can be restricted to one glass per day as it can be naturally high in sugar and calories.
